TWR Panel of Writers and Social Responsibility

An intimate and relaxed evening of conversation and community.

Join us for a panel discussion, followed by a brief Q&A session. Come with thoughts and questions of your own as we investigate important questions as a community of artists and thinkers, such as:

As a creator of content, what responsibility does a writer have to their reader/audience?

What has been your process in telling a story outside of your own experience? What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

What advice do you have for writers who feel limited by the restrictions of their own experience?

One-day Intensive • Mixed Genre

The focus of our Mixed Genre One-day Intensive is covering the basics of strong writing and generating new material, making it a great fit for writers who are uncertain about the direction they want to go. You’ll spend most of your time getting words on the page, doing craft-focused exercises, finding your voice and setting writing goals for the future. By the end of the Intensive, each participant will aim to have begun several drafts of your story, essay, poem, or book chapter (and maybe more!).

Spring End-of-Course Workshopper Reading at Silvana (free!)

A word after a word after a word is power, according to novelist Margaret Atwood. Join us at Silvana on 116th Street for an evening of powerful sentences, scenes, and stories from the last two months of workshops at The Writer's Rock! Harrowing escapes, evil curses, family histories, and real-life rock stardom collide in our end-of-semester salon, where friends, family, and the general public are invited to celebrate the power of words together.
